In Long Term Living November 2010 cover story, VCPI's Loren Claypool describes the impact ACOs will have on your business.

Meet your newest and toughest customer: Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and they are organizing in the markets you serve.  Regardless of what happens in DC, they are here to stay.

Key dates for your calendar:

1)    January 2011 >> CMS will release the rules for ACOs.
2)    January 2012 >> ACOs will begin enrolling patients.
3)    October 2012 >> Hospitals with high readmission rates will get hit in the wallet – to the tune of 1% of total Medicare reimbursements.
4)    2014 >> ACOs will be operating reality.

Long Term Living’s November cover story defines what ACOs are, why you should care, and the impact they will have on your business.  The future rests on your ability to sell your superior outcomes in terms of cost, quality, and re-admissions. “Facts are friends,” and you’ll need data to win.

The ACO rules are right around the corner – less than a month away.
